About Us

Ricardo Katza was born on 12 March 1978 in Hanover Park , Cape Town.  He retired in 2012 at the age of 34 after a 14 year proffesional football career.  His career started in 1998 with Seven Starts when he tried out as a striker but was advised by Gavin Hunt to try out as a defender and went on to become one of South Africa's best defenders to date.  Ricardo made his Bafana Bafana debut agains Cape Verde in 2005 and three games later he went on to Captain Bafana in the 2005 under the guidance of Mr Steward Baxter, goal cup in the USA. 



After a three year tennure at Hellenic FC, Ricardo joined Supersport United FC in June 2003 after being scouted by Stan Matthews(Director of Football at Supersport United FC) and Pitso Mosimane(former Bafana Bafana Coach) and was handed the captains armband after a month.  Ricardo captained the team to four major legue titles and was part of the team that won the PSL legue three times in a row. 



Ricardo is currently employed by Supersport United FC as a youth development coach and a mentor to up and coming soccer players. He enjoys the first team set up and lives in Gauteng and is available for motivational speaking,  he likes to share his journey to stardom and has a passion for the youth of his community.  Ricardo is a commited family man and has been married to Adelaide since February 2005 and have subsequently fathered 3 kids with her.  After retirement Ricardo wrote a book called Family, Faith and Football that can be ordered on this website.
